My high school did not have a basketball team nor club, therefore I have to learn basketball on MY OWN. I go down to this court EVERYDAY to play basketball no matter rain or shine from 4pm to 8pm or even later. I really LOVE basketball and I refuse to give up basketball for most things offered (Unless its my loved ones or basketball). I had spent almost EVERY evening tuning my game of basketball by learning to play with the state players and school players. I was stubborn and rash. And I never gave up trying although I made a lot of mistakes and failures. I don't know why, but no matter what anyone called me, whether I suck or I have no future, it just makes me want to play harder and stronger. Its like you want to prove to all these 'assholes' that they were wrong about you and sometimes, its all about the recognition and appreciation when you play.
Basketball was one of my very outlet of masculine expressions. =) Yeah! Its true. I play hard, no sissy attitudes and definitely a whole lot of pride. Whenever I was challenged by any players, state players or not, I take the challenge straight without any hesitation. Of course, I've lost so many times but it just help me to reflect on my game and I want to beat that 'sucker' who beat me. I would then take my whatever skills I have already, and not go back to that court which I was beaten but other courts 1st. Then I try different things and different methods to attack the basket and play good ball. After I am confident, I would bring my 'upgraded skills to the court where I 'fell' and challenge that winner-who's-about-to-lose-to-me. And boy I am glad to tell you all, I beat them! Not every single one of them, but MOST. Yes I did! To the point where they where even unsatisfied and challenge me again. But I continued to beat them until they ran out of gas.
Ha ha, all the sense of achievement fills my senses with never before glories. I admit, I got over my head a little and acted like I was a star. But deep down I know, there are still alot of better players than me. Mostly, its size, and strength.
My game consists of a scorer's attitude. I LOVE scoring the ball. The sound of the net 'swishing' it plain sweet to my ears and the looks of jaws dropping is eye candy to me. I love it when everybody wants you in their team or you are one of the top in their list to defeat. And best of all, they respect the flow and energy you bring into a game.
I'm pretty good at cutting and scoring lay-ups. I love ankle breaking and leaving my defender dazzled with blinding moves. LOL. That was exaggerating but take my word, I've done it before. My next best assets are shooting and drawing the defense. I mean cause everybody 'thinks' and expect me to cut, so when I do it half way before getting trapped, I would then dish the ball out to an open team mate for the shot or opportunity to do something without any defender, or dish the ball to my inside guy then he can have the easy basket.
Sigh
There's so much to say about my game of basketball.
But after all these years of toils and turmoils, I've managed to earn some recognition. By myself!
And through God's grace and strength.
I'm still looking forward to become better and better.
Just for you all to know, my favorite player is Kobe Bryant 24 of the Los Angeles Lakers. Yeap. So now you all ALSO know what kind of basketball I play.
